Pasadena Central Library Project Local Worker Registration

Pasadena Central Library Project

The iconic Pasadena Central Library, designed by renowned architect Myron Hunt, opened in 1927 and has long stood as a cornerstone of Pasadena’s historic Civic Center. For decades, it has welcomed more than 1,000 visitors daily and hosted nearly 900 community meetings and events each year.

In 2021, the library was closed due to safety concerns related to its unreinforced masonry construction. Pasadena Central Library has since undergone a major seismic retrofit and building modernization effort. The project team has committed not only to restoring this landmark, but also to ensuring the investment benefits the local community.

As part of that commitment, the contractor has voluntarily established economic impact goals, including allocating at least 15% of total wages to local workers and achieving a 10% target across other categories. These include subcontracting, procurement of materials and supplies, and utilization of local business services and vendors.

To help meet these goals, the project team has partnered with The Construction Services Group (CSG) to connect community members and businesses with project opportunities.
